Sitka pant question
« on: February 16, 2017, 06:06:29 AM »
What sitka pants would every one recommend? The ascent, 90%pants or the timberline? The main purpose of these will be elk hunting in sept at 6-7000 ft in eastern wa. Last yr the temps went from upper thirties to the 60-70 degree range. Thanks

90% are probably the best selling pants, I don't think they are discontinuing...That is what I would buy, but I have 4 pairs  :chuckle: already

I have both and gravitate towards Timberline more often than not.

The Ascent pant are my got to pants. Been wearing them since 2011. Add long underwear when cold. They hold up great. Light weight. Wife even wears them.

What are you going to do with them?
I have all 3.
90% pants are too warm for 90% of the hunting we do around here. If it's warm out, go with the Ascents. If it's anything else, the Timberlines are an awesome pair of pants. I just recently got them. I can't believe I've waited this long.  Timberlines have the waterproof butt and knees.
A good middle of the road pants have been the Mountain pants. A little heavier than the Ascents but not as warm as the 90%'s. The Mountains are a little heavier and have the rubber guards on the ankle cuffs to prevent the wear there.

I have the Ascent and Timberline. I like the ascent early archery moving alot and milder temps typically. I wear the TL later in the year. I really like the waterproof knee and butt, however it is warmer. If looking for just one pant I would look at the mountain pant. Also the ascent is getting significantly lighter in weight and material for 2017 for me will be strictly a early season pant.

I have Ascents and Timberlines. I have had the Mountain pants as well. If I could only have one- it would be the Timberlines by a long shot. They are great. It is true that they are a bit heavy for early season stuff. The Ascents are great for that if that is all you do. But if I had to choose- TL for the win.

I wear the ascent 80% of the time and just layer when it is in the 20's-30's. If it's any colder then I would go with the timberlines. I have the kuiu ultra merino zip off bottoms for those times when it is cold in the morning and the temps rise. Easy to zip off without removing your boots!

I have the 90%, mountain pants and ascents and hardly ever use the 90%. Mountain pants are great all around pant but hunting here in Sept would go with the ascent pants if I could only choose one.
